Classics: Bacon Lettuce and Tomato with a twist.

To be honest this isn't my all time favourite twist on the Classic BLT, which has to be the B.L.A.T, but this classic trio is guaranteed to taste good so any variation thereupon works well. This time I switched things up by using an unconventional ‘spread’ and mixing up the lettuce and tomato.

Ingredients:

  • One toasted and tasty plain bagel.
  • Hazelnut and walnut pork paté.
  • Two rashers of bacon, cooked tender, not crispy.
  • A handful of sliced cherry plum tomatoes.
  • A healthy handful of shredded round lettuce.

Construction:

This one is super easy, but be warned it always ends up a little messy.

Firstly, get your bacon frying. To minimise on unnecessary grease and fat I used a light spray of sunflower oil and a griddle to drain off any excess.

Whilst that’s sizzling stick your bagel, halved, in the toaster. You can tell this one’s a nice, easy recipe, right? Halve up your cherry tomatoes and roughly shred your round lettuce.

When the bagel’s toasted slather up both sides with a generous helping of paté (coarse pork paté works just fine, but the nutty turn of the hazelnuts adds a real kick to the standard BLT formula.

Now throw it all together! Simple as that. Be warned, though, this Bagel is a little prone to falling apart as you chomp on it.
